Currently there are two types of maps, a completely flat map, designed for open building, and a pregenerated, more realistic map. There are however no built-in random maps. Instead, Jens has announced a Plugin-API for world generating, which is to come quite soon. This API can then be used to generate random worlds in all forms.(1)
